Climate is one of the most important factors in the development of tourism sector. Group trips are intertwined with climate, and, in fact, the concept of climate tourism implies that weather can be an attraction to spend the spare time. In different times and places, these attractions can be categorized from enjoyable to non-interesting. Therefore, climate is recognized as a source for tourism, and it can be considered as an economic advantage for tourism. Benefiting from Tourism Climate Index (TCI), the climate tourism in Kurdistan was analyzed in the present study; this index also provides a systematic assessment of climate status for tourism. To figure out these indexes, a number of parameters in Kurdistan were considered. They include: monthly temperature median, minimum of relative humidity, median of daily relative humidity, rain pattern and overall sunny hours in eight stations. Thought Krignig interpolation method, eco-climate maps of Kurdistan were produced. The results of the study showed that Kurdistan has a high capacity for tourism; in addition, there is a wide range of bio-climate diversity regarding time and place in Kurdistan. Regarding time, May, June, and October provide the best climate context to attract tourists. In the context of place, each part of the province provides the optimal tourism context for tourism activities. While in the course of summer most parts of Iran and the province are strained by intense heat, the Eastern area of Kurdistan provides a relatively suitable context for tourism activities. Moreover, in December, January, February and March the cold weather puts some restrictions on tourism in Kurdistan.
